Murder is a Game demonstrates that the playwright, Fred Carmichael, is a deft plotter in the mystery form, and possesses a light touch to turn this whodunit into a bright comedy. The world's two most famous mystery authors, the Bigelows, have a severe case of writer's block. To inspire them, their publisher provides a unique anniversary gift: a weekend in an old country mansion. She then hires four actors to provide a fictitious murder mystery.

The weekend starts as a pleasant parlor game, until a real-life death occurs, providing a real-life murder. This causes the Bigelows to put their sleuthing knowledge to work.

Despite bad weather, isolation, and characters who aren't who or what they seem, the frantic search for the murderer begins.

The wacky characters provide a comedic feast as the mystery is unraveled.
