Mystery writer Peter Knight has been sent by his agent to an old mansion in Vermont to garner inspiration for his next novel.  His agent in passing tells him that the house was once the scene of a mysterious death of another author years ago.  Plagued with "writer's block", a sudden storm knocks out the electricity in the mansion and the characters Peter has created spring to life from the page.  As the story and characters begin spiraling out-of-control, Peter is faced with a real mystery.
